Proposal to Move Evansdale Elementary School From Lakeside to Tucker High School Cluster
The DeKalb County School Board is meeting tonight, Dec 10th, to consider a proposal to dramatically alter DeKalb County Schools attendance zones.
In particular the school board is considering moving the Evansdale Elementary School attendance zone from Lakeside High School to Tucker High School cluster.
Moving Evansdale Elementary School from Lakeside High School attendance zone to Tucker High School attendance zones would have an immediate and long lasting effect on the property values of homes in the Evansdale district. Home values would immediately drop.
In fact, just the discussion of moving Evansdale Elementary School attendance zones will chill home values.
If you live in the Evansdale Elementary School district, you need to immediately contact the DeKalb County School Board and voice your opinion.

On Thursday, Dec. 6, the DeKalb Board of Education discussed revisions made to the proposed 2016-17 school organization, attendance zone adjustments and bond financing as presented by the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) Facilities Management Department. The draft Proposed School Organization must be submitted to the state by January 2013 in order to continue receiving up to $40 million in reimbursements from state capital bond funds over the next five years.
The Board’s upcoming vote on Dec. 10 approves the first read of the draft, thus initiating the public input process, which will be held Dec. 11, 2012 through Jan. 16, 2013. On Jan. 23, 2013, Board will vote to approve the draft Proposed School Organization in order to begin the review process with the state. The Board’s final vote on the Five-Year Local Facilities Plan will take place in May 2013.
“Whatever changes we make, if we make any, will be based on significant public input,” said Board Chairman Eugene Walker.
The purpose of the Board’s discussion on Dec. 6 was to:
