Did you miss the announcement? The Spring Homebuying Season Kicked Off Jan 1:

Just checking in with all those potential home sellers who are waiting to put their home on the market during the spring homebuying season. Did you miss the announcement? The spring homebuying season kicked off Jan 1 this year.

Since the Rose Bowl parade, we have been inundated with home buyers looking for a new home. Two homes we put on the market after January 1 are already under contract. Several other homes are receiving intense traffic from homebuyers who are ready to make a purchase now. We assisted one of our homebuyers in placing another home under contract yesterday.

If you are a home seller that thinks the azaleas and dogwoods need to be blooming before you list your home for sale, you may want to rethink that strategy. The spring market is here and now even though the outside temperatures have been dipping into the 20s.

Can we explain why the spring homebuying season kicked off early? Not with absolute certainty but we suspect a slight uptick in mortgage rates combined with surging stock market values may have motivated homebuyers sitting on the fence to take action.
