Village Concept Introduced to DeKalb Seniors

CALLING ALL SENIORS-Village Concept Introduced to DeKalb Seniors. DeKalb County announces that the Human and Community Development Department Office of Senior Affairs will hold a meeting to introduce the “Village” concept, a new program which promotes aging-in-place, allowing seniors to continue to live in their community and remain independent.

The meeting will be held at Maloof Auditorium, 1300 Commerce Drive, Decatur, Georgia 30030, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2012.

The “Village” is a grassroots, membership and consumer driven organization developed by and for older adults that work together to coordinate programs, services, and volunteers to assist its members toward the goal of aging in place.

The “Village” utilizes a fee based membership network as the basis for the delivery of services that its members want which may include home helpers, health and wellness services, a variety of transportation options, or other services that “Village” members need.

Please come and learn more about this exciting program for seniors. We want to know whether you are interested in creating a “Village” in your area. For more information please contact: Amy Hsu at (404) 790-5015.
