Artistic Pools created an amazing swimming pool and waterfall in the backyard of this brick ranch home in the Lakeside High School footprint. The open backyard is fenced and has plenty of room for the 36 X 18 foot pool, waterfall, beautiful oversized pool decking, vegetable garden and large grassed lawn. Room for the entire soccer team to spread out after the game. Host birthday parties, pool parties and family get-togethers and have room to spare. The pool has a gunnite lining, beach ledge with an umbrella, and a low-maintenance saltwater filtration system. A Sun Room adjacent to the pool makes it easy to keep an eye on swimmers in a more comfortable location. Exciting features of this 3 bedroom, 2 bath home include hardwood floors throughout, a wood burning fireplace in the living room and energy efficient double pane windows. Homeowner is pulling together energy records showing well below-average electric and natural gas bills. A family of barred owls makes it’s home in the backyard and visits the pool deck area frequently. Nearby Henderson Park offers opportunities to enjoy nature and walking trails, a community garden, soccer fields, Lake Erin, a waterfall, tennis courts, and a playground. There’s something for every family member in this DeKalb County Park. You are minutes from Main Street in Tucker which has great restaurants and shops. Tucker has additional restaurant options and Tucker Brewery is a fan favorite offering live entertainment, outdoor games and great food & beverages. Locals know to buy fresh fruit and vegetables at Sherry’s Market. Then go across the street to Andrea’s Meat Market to finish out the evening meal plan. Convenient commute to Emory University, CDC, CHOA, Midtown and downtown. Technically Henderson Estates subdivision is outside the perimeter but it is very much an intown neighborhood in terms of the commute. Many destinations can be reached without getting on the Interstate.

Henderson Park Community Gardens:

The Henderson Park Community Garden is located on part of the new 7-acre park expansion and consists of 56 4×10 plots, four of them dedicated to growing food for the Friends of St. Martin de Porres food ministry at Holy Cross Catholic Church. All 52 rental plots have been rented.

We are an organic garden. Though the land on which our garden sits is owned by DeKalb County, we are its stewards. Our commitment to organic gardening extends beyond its practice to increasing its acceptance and use as the most effective method for growing healthy plants and building healthy soil. Our first class in the garden (Gardening 101 Demonstration) illustrated this commitment with lessons on the history and consequences of synthetic and chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and the availability, superiority, and application of natural inputs. The class concluded with hands-on transplanting demonstrations.

Run by an all-volunteer organization, the garden consists of community-minded, health-conscious members who value conservation, self-reliance, civic participation, and neighborhood beautification. Our founding members have donated thousands of hours of labor and sweat equity to turn our dream of a garden into a reality.

Advocates of community gardening cite “community cohesion” and “increased social interaction” as two of its many benefits. These are certainly in evidence in our young garden, which has become more than just a place for people to gather; the garden actually creates the opportunity for people to connect. Additionally, the Henderson Park Community Garden connects Tucker to its agricultural roots as the process of sowing, tending, and reaping provides the link to a past when most people knew how to grow their own food.

The Henderson Park Community Garden was started under DeKalb County’s Garden in the Parks program. In accordance with the program, the HPCG is responsible for the development, construction, upkeep, watering, and overall maintenance of the garden area; ensuring that garden rules are followed; handling plot rentals; and paying permit fees and water usage charges.
