The GLOBE Academy is a dual language immersion school with a 50/50 model, meaning that half of a student’s instruction time is in English and half is in a target foreign language. Children are assigned to a homeroom with other classmates and have a “partner” class. In Grades K-2 children spend half the school day in their English classroom with a teacher who speaks English and then switch with the partner class, spending the remainder of the day in their target language classroom with a teacher who speaks that language. In Grades 3-5, children spend the entire day in English or the target language and switch every other day.

The idea at The Globe Academy is to offer an educational alternative that incorporates foreign language and culture in the daily educational curriculum.

GLOBE offers three language tracks: French, Spanish, and Mandarin. Upon enrollment, a student is assigned to a language track and stays in that language track throughout their time at GLOBE. Families who speak the target language at home, children who have attended a language immersion preschool, and the younger siblings of our current students are given preference in language track placement. All other students are randomly assigned by GLOBE to balance classrooms with boys and girls and to reflect the diversity of our school as a whole.

The Globe Academy Charter School in 30345 Zip Code Reviews

We were pleased to see actual parent reviews on The Globe Academy Website.  They are all positive which is no surprise as this is the school’s website.  But they echo conversations we have heard as we received calls and messages from parents asking for assistance finding homes and neighborhoods closer to the school.  The positive remarks from these parents give us the impression teachers and administrators are doing something right at Glode Academy.

We walked into The GLOBE Academy with the hope that our daughter might someday be fluent in a foreign language. Instead, she is learning confidence, critical thinking, teamwork, creativity and, oh, Mandarin! While the language was what initially drew us to GLOBE, we have come to find so many other great benefits to this wonderful school. The teachers always find ways to keep the curriculum fun and exciting – even in a foreign language. The students work on group projects, make persuasive speeches to classmates and staff, study in their outdoor garden and learn about the world around them through author visits, cultural dances and many other unique experiences. GLOBE children know that they are a part of something special.
