Accurate Listing Data Here

Accurate Listing Data Here

Kingscliff Way Atlanta GA 30345Accurate Listing Data Here” is a sales cry that Zillow and now Trulia will be unable to say for much of the United States come April.  Trulia – a real estate website that serves as a database for real estate listings – is going to have new listing info cut off next week according to Inman News.

ListHub will stop supplying listings data that it aggregates from more than 560 multiple listing services to Trulia next week, having terminated its syndication agreement with the nation’s second most visited real estate search portal in the wake of its acquisition by Zillow.  Inman News

So what is ListHub? – back in the day – way before Trulia and Zillow existed – the National Association of Realtors put together a technology company that was supposed to be the go to real estate database (Realtor.com).  To get the listing data to Realtor.com form all the hundreds of local Multiple Listing Services (like First Multiple Listing Service in Atlanta and Georgia Multiple Listing Service in – you guessed it – Georgia) the National Association of Realtors created “Listhub”.  ListHub syndicates listing info to hundreds of websites – including Trulia and Zillow.

The National Association of Realtors cut one of the worst deals in the history of the Internet when they created Realtor.com and they literally gave away all their real estate data – and ownership of Realtor.com to an “operator” who proceeded to pretty much run the business in the ground.

Zillow and Trulia popped up because they did a much better job of packaging the information and made it user friendly for home sellers, home buyers and real estate agents.  Oh – and they charged real estate agents advertising fees to have their name and phone number by their own listings.

Rupert Murdoch bought the Realtor.com and Listhub businesses earlier this year.  He immediately proceeded to cut off the “juice” to Zillow and then announced this week he would be doing the same to Trulia after the merger with Zillow last week.  No more fresh and accurate real estate listing info for Trulia as of next week.,[update as of Feb 25, 2015 Judge orders Listhub not to cut off listings to Trulia – temporary injuction]   And Murdoch had already announced no more listing info would be going to Zillow after the April deadline when the contract runs out. [Update Feb 25, 2015 GAMLS has announced they cut a deal with Zillow to send listings direct – not sure if they are sending them through Listhub or some other means of syndication]

Accurate Listing Data Here is a sales cry that only Realtors will be able to use.  You can find accurate listing info right here on EnglishTeam.com because my Broker is a member of the First Multiple Listing Service and we share information between Brokers as part of that agreement. But we only have Metro Atlanta Listings.

Nationwide – Realtor.com will be the only website with accurate real estate listing info. This is because it has an agreement with the National Association of Realtors.

Statewide – GAMLS has cut a deal with Zillow to provide listings direct.  This is new info Feb 25, 2015.

Stay tuned – this could get interesting.
