Senior Transitions and Real Estate

Senior Transitions and Real EstateOne of my professional specialties is senior transitions and real estate. There is actually a professional designation I earned titled Senior Real Estate Specialist which prepares real estate agents and Brokers to deal with the difficult real estate decisions many seniors face.  During the last six months I have assisted several families as they helped parents transition from single family homes in the Lakeside and Tucker High School district toneighborhood  Assisted living facilities (Clairmont Place, Clairmont Oaks, Cobblestone at Park Springs) and nursing homes.  This is a challenging stage of life for many families and the family home is an especially sensitive topic.

For most seniors the family home is their single largest financial asset.  Often family savings get used up during retirement or with extensive medical bills.  Paying caregivers, hospital bills and doctors takes a huge bite out of hard earned savings and retirement income.   When seniors get ready to move to a living situation that provides more care and less daily responsibility – they often need to tap the equity in their home to do so.  The responsibility for this transition often falls on the shoulders of adult children.  Separating the emotional value from the financial value of a home is difficult.  Often time is of the essence as changes in a seniors health or mobility can happen quickly.

I have a team of contractors and vendors who can help take the load off the shoulders of families who are facing a senior transition.  Whether you need a quick evaluation of a potential list price for a home on today’s real estate market OR a contractor who can fix a leaky roof – I have trusted and honest help to recommend.  Estate sales, junk removal, senior legal advice from a licensed attorney or tax advice from a CPA – I can get you answers quick.

I often assisted adult children living out of state who need dependable help for their senior parents in Atlanta.  Not a problem.

And if you need to sell a home quickly – that is for sure in my wheel house.  Call me and let’s discuss your particular senior transition. Sally English 404-229-6493
